BackgroundToday was a travel day, going from Spokane to Sandpoint. The half-way part, roughly, was Coeur d'Alene. Stephen had expressed a great desire to bike the Centennial Trail from Liberty Lake, in Washington, to Coeur d'Alene. The plan was for me to drop him off at Liberty Lake, and then to meet him at some pre-arranged point in Coeur d'Alene. But today the weather looked really cloudy, with rain predicted. So we scrapped that plan! BUT... Shortly after we landed in Idaho, we came upon a tourist information spot. We decided to check out where there might be just an ordinary walking path around the lake at Coeur d'Alene. The lady there was extremely helpful. And even more so when Stephen noted that the aforementioned Centennial Trail was running right beside the tourist spot. (You can read all about it from the North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation website.) So the plans got modified. And after arranging a meeting spot about 8 miles from where we were, Stephen took off on his bike, and I drove to the meeting spot. Where, after a mere 45 minutes or so, Stephen arrived. He wasn't feeling winded at all - in fact, he was loaded with energy. He had checked the map, and figured out that maybe another few miles would get him to the end of the trail, and he could turn around and come back to the meeting point. Meanwhile, I could go for a walk along the trail, right beside the lake. If we both turned around after about 1/2 hour, we should get back to the chariot at roughly the same time. So that's what we did. In the end, Stephen biked about 30 kms, and I walked about 3 kms. |

The WalkHere are the shots that I captured while on my little walk. Basically some lake views.

And a sign I found amusing.
